It feels impetuous to write this column for the July issue of Perspectives when it is just now mid-April. For many of us, winter has not yet begun to yield to spring. For others, the change of seasons can be seen everywhere—from the flowering dogwoods to the thick film of pollen on car windshields. But despite the waning hibernation of winter, the Coordinating Committee (CC) has been working diligently in preparation for the 2013 ASHA Convention.
There will be no spoilers in this column, other than to say that SIG 3 has collaborated in this process with the Voice, Resonance, and Alaryngeal Speech topic committee as well as two other Special Interest Groups, resulting in a collection of top-notch seminars, Short Courses, and lectures. We of course thank Kay/Pentax for again sponsoring the wonderful Kay/Pentax Lecture in Upper Airway Science, now in its ninth year, if you can believe it. The hardworking staff at the ASHA national office continue to be an invaluable asset as this complex process winds its way through yet another year. And finally, the CC thanks the fantastic professionals among our own ranks who enthusiastically share their passion and expertise with us as invited or self-submitted presenters year after year.
