Questions about advocacy and promoting advocacy may not be on the Praxis exam, but we, as professionals, cannot go forward without that education. We are our own best advocates and our patients are their own best advocates as well. I have been part of a successful 10-month team effort to appeal a denial of payment for flexible fiberoptic nasen-doscopy performed by a speech pathologist with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of Illinois.
