At the ASHA Convention in Seattle, Division 3 sponsored a Sunday Short Course on Clinical Outcomes in Voice. There were three presenters: Richard Ward of the Center for Clinical Effectiveness at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit; Ray Colton from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse; and Mark Leddy from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Short course attendees and others who were unable to attend have requested additional information about the various approaches presented and the batteries used to document voice outcomes measures. In response to this request, Mark Leddy has agreed to solicit summaries and commentary on each talk, and publish them in the next three issues of the newsletter. The information will provide resources for clinicians who want to use existing voice outcome measures, or who wish to develop their own institutional outcome assessments. For those affiliates who attended this short course at ASHA and for others who have an interest in this topic, we encourage your contributions to this future column. If you would like to contribute materials, information, or commentary, please contact Mark Leddy at leddy@uwwvax.uww.edu or at (414) 472-5204.
