Little did I know how prophetic my hope of seeing many of you at the Convention would be. There was a wonderful turn out for the three Division 3 sponsored events, as well as generous participation by “voice folks” in all the other voice science/disorders offerings. We are a growing group with 856 affiliates as of October 1998. Overall, there are approximately 9,000 affiliates participating across the 15 special interest divisions.
As a result of our recent division elections, Kittie Verdolini will return for a second term and Julie Barkmeier replaces Moya Andrews. Thanks Moya for your generosity, graciousness, and productivity during your tenure on the Committee. Kim Fisher has graciously accepted the Associate Coordinator position beginning in January. Our Steering Committee meeting at Convention was very productive and the group was very receptive to my proposal for more of a team approach to our mission, thereby reducing workload burden for a select few and maximizing the creative talents of all Steering Committee members. Furthermore, we are committed to actively engaging more involvement by the affiliates. We are excited about the prospect of working together on your behalf.
