Welcome to a new column called Dollars $$ Sense. This is a resource for Division 3 affiliates to find answers to questions on topics of CPT coding and reimbursement and ICD-9-CM codes specific to voice disorders and procedures. CPT coding refers to Current Procedural Terminology and is published and maintained by the American Medical Association. ICD-9-CM refers to the International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification and falls under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. A list of CPD codes and ICD-9 codes related to speech-language pathology is posted on the ASHA Web site; from the home page, choose ASHA Members, then Billing and Reimbursement, then Coding for Reimbursement.
