Welcome to our summer issue of Division 3 ’ s Perspectives in Voice and Voice Disorders. I hope you are all enjoying the summer as you receive our second publication focusing on child voice issues. In this Coordinator ’ s Column, I will provide an update on Division 3 ’ s progress toward meeting affiliate needs and division goals since last year ’ s Steering Committee strategic planning meeting.
I would like to begin this column by thanking those of you who returned your Steering Committee election ballots and to announce that Mary Sandage has been elected to the Steering Committee. She will fill the position currently held by Stephen McFarlane beginning January 2003. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Stephen for all of his contributions to Division 3. As many of you have noticed over the past year alone, Stephen has been a major contributor to many of Division 3 ’ s recent projects, such as serving on the working group responsible for the revision of the Division 3 family of documents and planning the summer Division 3 and 16 clinical workshop on July 11, 2002. More impressive, Stephen has made these contributions while also serving as an interim president of the University of Nevada in Reno last year and now as the interim dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Nevada in Reno.. Stephen will be greatly missed after he finishes his term on the Division 3 Steering Committee; however, we will continue to enjoy his contributions on the Steering Committee for the remainder of the year.
