Last year flew by as Division 3 embarked on setting new goals and worked toward bringing previous projects to closure. We have worked extremely hard to achieve the priorities conveyed through your communications with the Steering Committee and me. In addition, we have enjoyed increased participation of affiliated members in our division (I like to think of us less as a division and more as a unified “group”) on several projects begun or continued from last year. This increased participation of affiliates has significantly contributed to the successful accomplishments of our division’s goals and partnership with other divisions in sponsoring educational events. In this column, I will summarize the latest news in Division 3 and provide a summary of the discussion regarding specialty recognition that took place at the 2001 annual ASHA Convention in New Orleans.
